Great BIC moments...and a scary one!

pam run

I feel like a real, full-time writer, not a full time procrastinator. From 8:30 am to 2 p.m. every day this week (except for Wed because I teach Bible Study), I worked tirelessly on my WIP. I have 5,400 words to show for it and I can't wait to start back next week!

One thing that happened today was scary--a part of my vision just blanked out—similar to when I have a migraine, but different, too. Once I got off the computer for a while it went away but it took several minutes to get my vision back. I wonder if sitting at the computer for 5 hours a day is affecting me? Has this happened to any of you?

I've never written that long. I like to work in short spurts. That's why I've only attempted picture books. I just wanted to say, Great Job!

Thanks!

I'm getting better at BIC over the years. I had to start slow and work short at first. It's like running--start slow at first and then increase your mileage over time. HA!

No, that vision thing has never happened to me and I spend LOTS of time staring at this screen. I think you should mention it to an eye doctor.

Thanks, I will if it happens again. Freaked me out. I'm doing another long session today, so we'll see if it happens again. I think it could be linked to coffee drinking--I'm sensitive to caffeine and will get migraines if I drink it. It's been so cold here, I just can't help myself! Eek!

Eye fatigue is a wonderful thing, huh.

Try increasing your monitor brightness... works for me.

That's a good idea. I'll try that!

I've had a migraine aura twice, but no migraines! (That's me, the medical mystery...) First I'd see a bright spot in my center of vision. Then it slowly expanded outward, getting wavy. Finally it would linger at the corner of my eye for a little while before disappearing. The first time it happened, it scared the cr*p out of me! I rushed to the eye doctor, but he said the retina was fine, and it sounded like an aura.

Yeah, I get those a lot WITH migraines. I figured this was a mini-migraine-type episode but without the migraine. What made me think it connected to the monitor was that it went away fairly soon after I got off the computer. My normal migraine auras stay for probably ten minutes.

Glad you don't get the migraine with it!

It's probably a good idea to check with your doctor...for the peace of mind if nothing else. I just saw mine this week and they did the whole exam thing with the evil drops...I couldn't see for ten hours!

Thanks, Crissa. :-) I will get it checked out if it happens again.
