New Year's Resolutions and a look back...

2006 writing goals were:

 1. To sub my novel
2. To get an agent
3. To complete a new pb for Charlesbridge
4. To start on a new novel

What happened:

1. I did sub my novel to many agents. My request rate was overwhelmingly good!

2. I did not get an agent, but I did get close and have not heard definitively yet. There's still hope out there...sigh...

3. Because my pb's have been pushed back to 2010, and I have three more coming out with Charlesbridge, I decided to write other things instead of writing another pb for them. :-)

4. I started brainstorming on my new novel and am ready to start writing it now--YAY! (Thank you, Meg and Stephanie, for TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Many new things occurred which were not a part of my goals. I sold one of my last pb's I'd subbed to Charlesbridge! And then I sold my very favorite pb to Marshall Cavendish! WOW!! Additionally, InnovativeKids asked me to write a mystery series for them and I completed one with one more to follow.  What a bonus!

Multiplying Menace came out, so I started doing school visits--such a dream come true.

2006 has been the best year yet for me! I really believe 2007 will be even better.

I praise God for all His blessings. I'm completely humbled by Him daily.

I can't wait to see what happens to all my friends! You guys are amazing out there!!!!!

WEE for us!

What a truly amazing year. Kudos to you--way to go! Seriously, how wonderful that all your hard work paid off. :) Now go get 'em in 2007! And good luck with the agent, though it appears you're doing just fine yourself!

LOL!!! But that was a great start for us, wasn't it? I owe a lot to my first print book. Tee hee! I remember stressing about writing a dedication--my first! I think it's great they have one for that little book. I don't get that priveledge for the mysteries (mass market). HA!

These are wonderful accomplishments!! Best of luck on your 2007 goals and the start of your new novel. :-)

And I'm curious, what are your mysteries about? What age level?

Thanks!

The mysteries are with the Clue School line. Here's a link to one that was written by Cathy Hapka on amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Innovative-Kids-Readers-Missing-Innovativekids/dp/1584764791/sr=8-1/qid=1167848258/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-5088530-7790848?ie=UTF8&s=books

They are Level 4 readers (7 to 9 year olds) and so, I had to conform to specific instructions to complete one. It was fun! At the end of the book, there's a 64 piece puzzle showing the answer to the mystery. It's done in illustration, so I can't wait to see the finished product. Mine should be out this summer. I've had to sign a nondisclosure agreement, so I really can't say what it is about until its release. :-)

It looks so cute!! Thanks for the link.

I'm working on a MG mystery now, and WHEW! It's a lot of thought process that goes into this kind of book. I love it, though. :-)
